Daniel Jacobs Says He's Fighting On October PBC On FOX Card

Daniel Jacobs is not done with trying to get a rematch with current unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, but revealed that he has a fight set for an announced October card at the Barclays Center.

Jacobs spoke to ES News Reporting about a potential rematch against Golovkin. It was at that point that Jacobs said he would be fighting at an unannounced PBC on FOX card on October 14 at the Barclays Center.

"We’re going to get the rematch," Jacobs said. "We got a date coming back, October 14 at the Barclays Center. We don’t have the opponent yet though, but we’re working on that. We should have something."

One opponent that Jacobs would like to fight is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Chavez, who recently fought Canelo Alvarez in a major HBO pay-per-view on Cinco De Mayo weekend.

”I could fight him,” Jacobs said. “He gave me credit for beating GGG, one of the best middleweights in the world, so he wants to fight me. I think it’s a good fight. That’s something I want to do, and something the fans want. Chavez is a really good fight. I believe I can stop Chavez and really beat Chavez. I’m down to fight Chavez. If he’s willing to do I, send the papers. We’ll see what happens. At whatever weight he feels comfortable – any weight."

The Barclays Center has been a hotbed for boxing events for both PBC and Showtime. There has been four boxing cards, and the New York portion of the Mayweather vs. McGregor world press tour, in the Barclays Center in 2017 alone.

Jacobs and Golovkin fought back in March in nearby Madison Square Garden. Jacobs lost an extremely close unanimous decision bout with the middleweight titles on the line. It had been rumored that Jacobs would be a part of the undercard of Golovkin's September 16 super fight against Alvarez.
