Angel Garcia, the father and trainer of WBC welterweight titleholder Danny Garcia, isn't one to shy away from making any outlandish comments, and now has said that his son can beat Keith Thurman quickly.
In an article posted on the Premier Boxing Champion's website, the elder Garcia believes that if his son and WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman meet inside the ring, then Danny would get the win in just five rounds.
“Khan was way better than Thurman, who will go for the knockout with big right-hand haymakers for three rounds. But Thurman’s going to be shocked when Danny makes him eat it,” Angel Garcia says. “Third round, Danny’s gonna start jumping on his ass, hurt him to the body like [Luis] Collazo did, and then Thurman’s getting knocked out cold in the fifth round."
The trash talk didn't stop with just Thurman. Angel Garcia said that Danny will accept a fight from Floyd Mayweather, should he come out of retirement.
“After that, if [Floyd] Mayweather comes back from retirement and wants to [fight Danny Garcia], we’ll take that fight, too," Angel Garcia said. "Danny wants the top guns in the division.”
The undefeated Danny Garcia's next fight will be against Samuel Vargas on November 12 in a 10-round non-title match. Should Garcia win, then he and Thurman will meet in a title unification bout on March 4.
