Darren Till headlines his second straight UFC card this May as he faces Stephen Thompson in the main event of UFC Fight Night Liverpool.
The welterweight finished Donald Cerrone via first round TKO in the main event of UFC Fight Night Gdansk, but Till feels this bout against Thompson may go a bit longer.
“Third-round knockout,” Till said on Obviously Fight Talk. “As soon as I beat Stephen everyone will know that I’m the best striker in the welterweight division. As soon as I beat him on the 27th then people can stop talking about my hype train.”
Thompson has only suffered two defeats as a professional MMA fighter and both came by decision, while Till has earned five of his wins by first round finish.
Till also believes that his striking is better than Thompson’s, which the fighter believes will play a huge factor in the outcome of the bout.
“I know he’s got some good training partners — Chris Weidman and that — but I don’t see where he is better than me anywhere. I just think my striking is better than his and I’m going to beat him,” says Till.
UFC Fight Night Liverpool takes place on Sunday, May 27 from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England with Stephen Thompson and Darren Till headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
