David Haye Says UFC Contacted Him To Fight Jimi Manuwa

Following his main event victory at UFC Fight Night 107, British fighter Jimi Manuwa called out professional boxer David Haye for a fight.

The boxer has heard about the call out and says he has even been in discussions with the UFC about putting something together.

Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler Officially Announced For UFC 303, Will Take Place At Welterweight

“Yeah, we have heard from Manuwa’s management and UFC, so it is something that we are looking at at the moment. Obviously it is a little way off being confirmed. But it is a fight that would unify a lot of the fans from both UFC and boxing and make a mega event,” Haye said to Boxing News Online.

A potential Haye/Manuwa fight joins a long list of potential boxer versus MMA superfights. Others of interest include UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather Jr., former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva versus Roy Jones Jr. and Nick Diaz versus Jean Pascal.

Even though a fight with Manuwa is far from being confirmed, Haye is entertaining the idea..

"The answer is a resounding yes!" he said. "I was very impressed with his quick knock out the other night at the O2 Arena. If any of the mixed martial artists can convert over to be a successful boxer he has definitely got the body shape and style to do so."

Manuwa recently appeared on the Cage Warriors 82 broadcast, where he stated that he either wants a UFC Light Heavyweight Title shot or the fight with Haye.
