It would appear that UFC's debut in Kansas City was a big success.
The UFC on Fox 24 show headlined by Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson's history making title defense drew 12,171 fans. The event grossed $1,081,193, which was a record for sports events in the Sprint Center venue.
Johnson, who asked for a million dollar payday after his fight, will get a nice chunk of that at least. He's guaranteed a minimum $350,000 for his bout, in addition to $40,000 from Reebok, but also took home a $50,000 "Performance of the Night" bonus for his submission win. Robert Whittaker also earned a performance bonus, while Luis Smolka and Tim Elliot won "Fight of the Night."
