Johnson is looking to expand his dominance in the MMA world and that would include challenging for other flyweight titles from different promotions.

“If I was to go out and collect all the belts, now that’s something that’s like, ‘Okay, I’ve proven that I’m the best,’” Johnson said at the UFC 227 open workouts. “If I was to go to ONE Championship, win the flyweight division there. Go to RIZIN, win the flyweight division there. And then go to Bellator … win the belt there. Now this speaks volumes. For me to have every unique looking belt around the world, that’s what gets me excited if you really want to know. That’s where it’s like, ‘You have me interested now.’”

“Mighty Mouse” has been the only flyweight champion in the history of the UFC, defeating Joseph Benavidez to become the first champion at UFC 152 in September of 2012.

It is the prospect of holding unique belts from around the world that truly excites Johnson.

“For me to have every unique looking belt around the world, that’s what gets me excited if you really want to know. That’s where it’s like, ‘You have me interested now,’” says Johnson.

UFC 227 takes place on Saturday, August 4 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California with TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
