Deontay Wilder: I Would Rather Face Dominic Breazeale On Fox Instead Of PPV

Although there had been reports of Deontay Wilder?s next fight against Dominic Breazeale being a potential pay-per-view fight, Wilder is not exactly 100 percent on board with the idea of it being a pay-per-view event.

The fight between Wilder and Breazeale has not been announced but the WBC recently did order the two to fight in the wake of Tyson Fury electing to not fight Wilder next. Wilder spoke with Tha Boxing Voice and said a fight against Breazeale is not exactly a pay-per-view worthy fight because Breazeale does not "fit that bill" of a pay-per-view headliner, according to the long-time WBC heavyweight champion.

That's not to say Wilder isn't interested in the fight against Breazeale, but would rather have it on Fox, where it is free to watch in the United States.

?Pay-per-view for me is definitely those big moments, those special magical moments for fights that people have to see. Breazeale don?t fit that bill. Nobody knows Breazeale, he tries to play that tough man role, but his voice ain?t even deep enough for starters and he ain?t got no swagger. I would definitely much rather fight Breazeale on Fox. Let?s get [Fox's viewership] up. I?d love to go on Fox and fight Breazeale,? Wilder said.

Wilder is currently being planned for a May 18 return to the ring, potentially at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Wilder last fought at the venue in March 2018 when he stopped Luis Ortiz in the 10th round. Wilder last fought on Fox in February 2017 when he defeated Gerald Washington in Birmingham, Alabama to retain his title.
