Although it's been unofficially announced for several weeks, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have officially signed their contracts on their WBC heavyweight title fight.
In a press release, it has announced that the WBC title fight will take place on December 1 as a main event for a pay-per-view at a venue to be announced next week. The two boxers will have a promotional tour and kickoff in London starting on October 1, with stops in New York City and Los Angeles on dates to be determined later.
Wilder has not fought since stopping Luis Ortiz in the 10th round back in March at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The win was Wilder's 40th career win, with 39 wins coming by knockout, and has held the WBC title since January 2015 when he defeated Bermane Stiverne.
Fury previously won the unified WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles in 2015 after a win over Wladimir Klitschko, but would later lose the IBF due to not facing mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov and then vacate the other titles for failing a drug test and then get hit a lengthy suspension.
The 30-year-old Fury returned to the ring this past June with a win over Sefer Seferi and then on August 18 when he scored a decision win over Francesco Pianeta. After the fight against Pianeta, Wilder entered the ring to have a verbal exchange and unofficially announce that the two will face off for Wilder's WBC heavyweight title.
This will be Showtime's first pay-per-view boxing event since the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight that took place in Las Vegas in August 2017.
