Dillian Whyte: I'll Knock Out Wladimir Klitschko If He Comes Back

While Dillian Whyte could get a title fight next, one possible fight that was previously thought to be impossible could be a reality.

Former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, who's been retired for more than a year, is rumored to be considering a comeback to the ring. Though there is no word on whether or not Klitschko is in fact un-retiring, Whyte is intrigued by the concept of a potential fight against him. In an interview with talkSPORT, Whyte stated that he would be interested in fighting Klitschko and added that he felt confident enough in his abilities to knock him out.

"I'll fight anyone and I'll fight Wladimir Klitschko and knock him out if he comes back. I'll definitely knock him out. I know exactly what to do. I trained alongside him for years and I know what he's like. I'll knock him out," Whyte said.

Whyte also said he believes Klitschko will be able to give him a really tough fight and pointed to his last fight as an example of what Klitschko can do in his 40s. Klitschko's last fight was in 2017 when he lost a title fight against Anthony Joshua.

"I think it's a great fight. He gave Anthony Joshua hell and he's got good movement. He's very powerful and he's big, strong man, but I just believe it is my time now and I know what to do if I fight him. He's very experienced, but I just believe I will get into his kitchen and I'll rip the sink out. He doesn't like body punches. I know that from sparring with him," Whyte said.

Klitschko was originally set to fight Joshua in a rematch in the second half of 2017, but Klitschko decided to hang up his gloves and retire. Whyte, who is coming off a win over Dereck Chisora back in December, currently does not have a fight set for 2019, but did receive an offer to fight Joshua for the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles.
