Dominick Cruz Says Doctors Have Cleared Him To Fight Again

MMA

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz has been out of action since losing the title to Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207 in December of 2016.

The former champion has now been cleared to return from an arm injury and he wants to be back in action by the end of the year.

“I don’t know, I just got cleared by the doctor so I’m good to go,” said Cruz during UFC On Fox 30 media day. “I’ll talk to (UFC matchmaker Sean) Shelby, I’ll talk to everybody. I’m on track though. So I will be going to fight. I’m going to fight before the end of the year is my goal so we’ll see what happens. ... I know T.J. Dillashaw and Cody are fighting and I should be having the winner of that. That’s what everybody wants to see so hopefully somebody gets some wits about them and gives me that fight right away. We’ll see what happens.”

Cruz hasn’t been able to find much consistency since coming to the UFC, having fought just six times in the seven years since debuting in the promotion.

A suggestion from the UFC according to Cruz was for him to fight this December at UFC 232 and the former bantamweight champion is up for that.

“Get ‘em to sign it, I’ll take that,” Cruz said.

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
