Dominick Cruz Undergoes Shoulder Surgery

MMA

Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz was expected to fight John Lineker this month at the now postponed UFC 233 event.

However, a shoulder injury would cause Cruz to withdraw from the bout, plus the damage to the shoulder would require the fighter to get surgery to repair it.

Cruz would take to Twitter after getting surgery to provide fans with an update on how things are progressing:

The former bantamweight champion may be one of the most snake bitten fighters in UFC, if not all of MMA history. Since coming to the UFC in 2011, an often injured Cruz has only competed six times in the promotion, but he did win five of those bouts. Cruz was last seen in action at UFC 207 in December of 2016, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Cody Garbrandt.

There is no word at this time as to when Cruz is expected to return after getting surgery, but more should be known as the healing process takes place.
