Despite not facing Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 205, Donald Cerrone already has another fight booked as he has verbally agreed to face Matt Brown at UFC 206.
Cerrone (31-7-0-1NC) is currently undefeated as a welterweight in the UFC, defeating Patrick Cote, Rick Story and Alex Oliveira. Cerrone also fought once for the UFC Lightweight Title, losing to then champion Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC On Fox 17. Cerrone will be fighting for the fourth time this year, which is one behind his busiest year ever, 2011.
Cerrone was originally set to face Kelvin Gastelum at Saturday's UFC 205 show, but Gastelum monumentally missing weight forced the two from the card.
Brown (20-15-0) was originally set to fight Tarec Saffiedine at UFC 207, there is no word on what will be done with Saffiedine. Brown has only won just one of his last five fights, that lone win coming over Tim Means at UFC 189 last year. Brown was a cast member on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 8 and once had a seven fight winning streak under the UFC banner.
There were multiple names willing to fly in to New York and fight Cerrone, but ultimately UFC decided to beef up their UFC 206 show.
UFC 206 takes place on Saturday, December 10 from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson headlining.
