Dong Hyun Kim entered the octagon at UFC 207 and made a successful debut with the promotion, defeating former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Tarec Saffiedine by unanimous decision on the pay-per-view portion of the card. While happy he was able to secure a victory, Kim was also looking to earn a performance bonus at UFC 207.
?I wanted to have a more exciting fight,? Kim said to MMA Junkie. ?I wanted to go for a ?Fight of the Night? performance, but he had a great clinch game.?
Although Kim didn?t exit the arena that night with any extra money in his pockets from bonuses, but he still walked away with a win and, for the fighter, that's plenty of reason to be happy.
?It was very tiring and disappointing,? Kim said. ?But I?m happy.?
Kim is the ninth-ranked welterweight in the UFC at this point in time. He is also riding a three-fight winning streak, with the other victories coming over Josh Burkman and Dominic Waters. Kim was originally set to headline UFC Fight Night 99 last year, but an injury to opponent Gunnar Nelson halted those plans.
