Dustin Poirier Says Nate Diaz Has Been Offered Fight For UFC International Fight Week

MMA

Former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz were supposed to meet at UFC 230, but the bout fell through and was never rescheduled.

It looks like the bout could be back on the table, as Poirier says Diaz has been offered a second chance to face him at UFC International Fight Week.

?I spoke to Sean (Shelby) last night,? Poirier said to MMA Junkie. ?I know that they offered him this fight in California in May or International Fight Week, so we?ll see. We?ll see if he takes it, but the offer is out there. I think they told me they were going to give him two weeks. If they didn?t hear, they?re going to move on from it. We?ll see. I don?t know exactly what?s going on with the whole thing.?

Diaz has competed twice since the fight with Poirier fell through, while Poirier would go onto win the UFC Interim Lightweight Title and unsuccessfully challenge for the UFC Lightweight Title.

Poirier admits that the whole situation surrounding their canceled contest at UFC 230 was a complete mess.

?Last time was a mess,? Poirier said. ?I don?t care what he says, he knows the truth. It was a mess. They were offering me Kevin Lee as a replacement, and it just fell apart. I don?t know. If he says ?yes,? I expect him to show up.?

There has been co comment from Diaz as to whether or not he was offered a bout against Poirier for UFC International Fight Week.
