Eddie Hearn: Ted Cheeseman vs. Asinia Byfield Will Be For British Title

A battle between two of the top up-and-coming British boxers at 154 lbs. will now compete for the British title.

The 22-year-old Cheeseman, who has held the WBA International junior middleweight title since this past Feburary, has won all 14 of his pro fights. Cheeseman rose to prominence when he defeated Carson Jones to win the then-vacant title. Cheeseman successfully defended his title with a fourth-round TKO win over previously unbeaten Paul Upton back in June 6.

Byfield, a former BBBofC Southern Area champion at 154 lbs., has won his last five fights since losing his first title fight against Arthur Hermann in 2016. Byfield has not fought in 2018 so far, but did win all three of his fights in 2017 by knockout, last knocking out Gabor Gorbics in the fifth round of their fight back in October.

The British junior middleweight title has been vacant since Liam Williams relinquished the title back in 2016 in an effort to hopefully challenge for a world title.
