Former Bellator bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas last competed at Bellator 222, suffering a second round knockout loss to Juan Archuleta.

It turns out that Bellator 222 was the last time that Dantas will fight for the promotion, as Dantas says he is no longer a part of the Bellator roster.

“I fought in June and planned on fighting again in November or December,” Dantas said to MMA Fighting“But I had a trip coming up, and then the coronavirus pandemic started, and that’s when I realized my contract was already over. If I were to re-sign with them, it would be for two more years.”

The fighter went 11-4-0 in Bellator, while capturing the promotion’s bantamweight title twice with a pair of victories over Marcos Galvao. Dantas says there is only one path for him going forward and that is to sign with the UFC.

“There’s only one path, one thing that will make my heart pump harder and get me out of bed to work harder than ever, to use all my experience and my youth, and that’s the UFC,” Dantas said. “That’s the only path, the place where I would would desire the most.”
