Leon Edwards vs. Khamzat Chimaev postponed
Edwards has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, per ESPN, leading to the postponement of their main event scrap at UFC's penultimate show on December 19th.
"[Edwards] hasn't been able to train at all and lost 12 pounds in four days" since testing positive for COVID-19, sources told the publication. The fight is expected to be rebooked for some time in early 2021.
Clay Guida vs. Michael Johnson on Super Bowl weekend
Clay Guida posted on his Instagram that his next fight is against Michael Johnson on Super Bowl weekend. The UFC event is scheduled for February 6. The card, which will be headlined by Alistair Overeem vs. Alexander Volkov, has been bolstered with this fight at lightweight.
Guida is coming off two losses in his most recent outings. He lost to Bobby Green on June 20, 2020 by unanimous decision and by a guillotine to fellow veteran Jim Miller back in August of 2019.
Ranked lightweights Diego Ferreira and Beneil Dariush clash
Diego Ferreira (no. 9) and Beneil Dariush (no. 12) are scheduled to scrap at a UFC event on February 6, per Brett Okamoto of ESPN. The fight will serve as a rematch of their fight at UFC 179. Dariush previously handed Ferreira his first professional loss, taking the fight by way of unanimous decision.
Wallery Alves vs. Christian Aguilera
MMA Fighting has reported that a welterweight bout between Warlley Alves and Christian Aguilera has been added to the first show of the new year; UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs Kattar. The event takes place on January 16.
Kevin Holland vs. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza
During UFC Vegas 15?s broadcast, the promotion announced that Ronaldo ?Jacare? Souza will now face Kevin Holland in the middleweight division. After Holland tested positive for COVID, Marvin Vettori stepped up to face Jack Hermansson in this weekend's UFC Vegas 16 main event. Holland will now face Souza the following week on December 12.
Aleksi Olenik is back against Chris Daukus
Sources have confirmed to MMAJunkie that Aleksi Olenik will return to the Octagon vs. Chris Daukas on UFC Fight Night scheduled for February 20. Olenik has not fought since his TKO loss to Derrick Lewis earlier this year. Daukas is 2-0 in the UFC and will be looking to build on wins over Parker Porter and Rodrigo Nascimento.
