Efe Ajagba Injured, Won't Fight On October 26 Showtime Boxing Card; Frank Sanchez To Replace Him

Another injury has forced Showtime to make further changes to the October 26 boxing card from Reading, Pennsylvania.

The network announced that Efe Ajagba has suffered a back injury and is no longer facing Jack Mulowayi this weekend in the opening fight of the three-bout telecast. As a result, unbeaten heavyweight prospect Frank Sanchez will now face Mulowayi on October 26.

Sanchez will be fighting for the fourth time this year, having won all three of his fights in 2019 end in stoppages within four completed rounds. Sanchez is a former amateur standout in Cuba and previously fought in the World Series of Boxing. Mulowayi will be going for a second straight victory after suffering his first pro defeat back in May. In his last fight, Mulowayi won a four-round decision against Artur Kubiak in July.

The main event of the three-fight card, originally a WBC junior middleweight title eliminator between Erickson Lubin and Terrell Gausha, is no longer happening after Gausha suffered an injury. Lubin will still fight in the main event, but will now take on Nathaniel Gallimore in a 10-round bout.

Also originally planned for the card was a bantamweight title eliminator between Emanuel Rodriguez and Rau'shee Warren. That fight was scrapped after Warren got injured during a sparring session and wouldn't be ready in time for the fight, which led to Ajagba being added to the telecast.

The only fight from the initial event announcement that is still moving forward as planned is a junior welterweight matchup between former lightweight champion Robert Easter Jr. and Adrian Granados.
