Eleider Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev 2 Coming To Dallas Cowboys Practice Facility

Eleider Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev are having their light heavyweight title rematch in Texas.

Top Rank announced that the rematch for the WBO 175-pound title will take place on February 2 at The Star, the practice facility for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys in Frisco, Texas. The title bout is scheduled to headline a Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card.

The two had fought back in August in the main event of an HBO-televised card in Atlantic City with Alvarez knocking Kovalev out in the seventh round to win the title. The two had a rematch clause which was enacted, but with HBO leaving the boxing business, ESPN swooped in to get the rights to televise the rematch. Kovalev will now look to win the WBO title for the third time in his pro career with new trainer Buddy McGirt.

This wouldn't be the first time the Cowboys had a facility used for a boxing fight. Back in 2016, AT&T Stadium, the venue the Cowboys play at, hosted Canelo Alvarez's WBO junior middleweight title win over Liam Smith and is set to host the IBF welterweight title fight between Errol Spence Jr. and Mikey Garcia.

The Star also had prior experience hosting boxing events as it was the venue where Spence retained his IBF title with a first-round knockout win over Carlos Ocampo this past summer.

The co-main event, rumored to be a fight for the vacant IBF lightweight title, is expected to be announced soon. As for the undercard, the ESPN+ streaming service will stream the untelevised fights live beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
