Emanuel Navarrete To Defend WBO Super Bantamweight Title In August

Emanuel Navarrete's next WBO super bantamweight title defense is set.

Zanfer Promotions announced that Navarrete will defend his title against Francisco De Vaca on August 17. The fight will take place at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles. No broadcast details for the fight has yet to be announced.

Navarrete has enjoyed a fast ascent to the top of the super bantamweight division after winning 22 of his first 25 wins by knockout. Last December, Navarrete scored an upset win over Isaac Dogboe to win the WBO title at Madison Square Garden. Dogboe wanted an immediate rematch and the two fought again on May 11 in Tucson, Arizona and Navarrete's win in that rematch was much more decisive.

After dropping Dogboe twice in the sixth and final rounds, Dogboe's corner threw in the towel in the last minute of the fight, securing Navarrete's first world title defense. Navarrete has now won his last 22 fights. Navarrete is currently ranked No. 2 on Fightful's Boxing Rankings at super bantamweight, which can be seen at this link.

De Vaca is an unbeaten rising prospect who has won all 20 of his pro fights, six of which came inside the distance. De Vaca, ranked No. 11 by the WBO at 122 pounds, is coming off a shutout win on the scorecards against Ernesto Guerrero in February, winning all eight rounds on all three judges' scorecards.
