Austin Hubbard is making his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night Rochester, facing Davi Ramos in a lightweight division attraction.
Ramos is a submission wizard, but Hubbard is training hard to make sure that he doesn?t tap to Ramos at UFC Fight Night Rochester.
?It?s kind of funny, the past couple of months?we?ve been working what we call grappling boxing or anti-jiu-jitsu. A lot of shutdown spots in which I think is going to be very important in this fight, he?s a high level black belt. Obviously?me, I might catch him in a submission, but that?s not my game plan. So I think the shutdown jiu-jitsu is going to be very key in this fight, so luckily been training that the past couple of months. So it works out great for my favor in this fight, that I got it polished and ready to go,? says Hubbard in an exclusive interview with Fightful?s James Lynch.
Hubbard won the Legacy Fighting Alliance Lightweight Championship before signing with the UFC, defeating Killys Mota to win the gold at LFA 56.
Fellow UFC fighter Curtis Blaydes is a roommate of Hubbard and Hubbard needed to helps out Blaydes with cleanliness when the two first moved in together.
?He?s a good roommate, lets just definitely say the he has gotten better from when he first moved in. He?s good?when he first moved in, I had to help him clean up quite often?but he?s getting it now,? says Hubbard.
