Maycee Barber was just seen in action at UFC Fight Night Nashville, defeating JJ Aldrich by second round TKO.

This bout marked the flyweight division debut for Barber and the fighter felt stronger competing in the new weight class.

“I felt stronger for sure, all through camp…I felt way stronger. So just the power difference and then also the recovery, obviously fight week was not fantastic. Anytime you have a cut, it’s never fun. Once I got carbs back in me and I was ready to perform, I felt fantastic. It was amazing,” says Barber in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Barber had previously competed at strawweight in the promotion, but did miss weight once during her UFC tenure.

One of the most important people in the UFC that fighters need to impress is UFC President Dana White and Barber did that this past weekend.

“Dana said that was a heck of a performance, I talked to him a few times. He said it was a tough first round, he said the fact that I was able to come back and finish like that…he said it’s something that not a lot of people do. I feel like he was pretty impressed and I’m just glad that I can impress him, I told him in between the rounds that I’ll fix this (getting dropped in the first round). After the fight, I told him ‘see, I told you I would fix this.’ He was like ‘you sure did,’” says Barber.

The undefeated Barber is now 2-0-0 under the UFC banner (7-0-0 overall) and all but one of her professional MMA wins came by some form of finish.
