Fight Added To MSG Show

Al Iaquinta has been pulled from an upcoming bout at the historical UFC 205 card against Thiago Alves due to contract issues, but New Jersey’s Jim Miller will be stepping in for the fight against Alves on the MSG card.

This is a big fight for Alves, who will be competing for the first time in the UFC as a lightweight, he spent his entire run in the UFC until this point as a welterweight, even challenging then welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre for the belt, albeit unsuccessfully, at UFC 100.

Miller will be entering the fight on a two fight winning streak, having first defeated Takanori Gomi at UFC 200 and then defeating Joe Lauzon a second time at UFC On Fox 21.

The website MMA Junkie attempted to reach out to the UFC about Miller replacing Alves, the response from the UFC was “There’s nothing to confirm at this time.”

However, a member of Alves’s camp confirmed the fight a short time late, the UFC has not made any official announcements at this time.

Alves even sent out a tweet about a new opponent being announced shortly, but he never revealed who that opponent was going to be, but we know now.
