Fight-Size Boxing Update: Jorge Linares Wins In Japan, Spence vs. Porter, Miguel Cotto Promotions

Here's your fight-size boxing update for September 8, 2019:

- Former world champion Jorge Linares returned to Japan for a fight for the first time since 2014 and was victorious in his return bout. Linares beat Al Toyogon by unanimous decision to pick up his first victory since September 2018.

- Also on that Japan card from Tokyo's Korakuen Hall, Yuki Nagano beat Makoto Kawasaki by second-round TKO to retain the Japanese national welterweight title.

- Miguel Cotto Promotions will have a card in San Juan, Puerto Rico on October 5 with the following fights confirmed: 

  • Danielito Zorilla vs. Mexican Jesus Perez for the Interim WBO NABO Jr. welterweight title
  • Carlos Buitrago vs. Israel Vazquez for the vacant WBO Latino light flyweight title
  • Juan Carlos Camacho vs. Lucas Fernandez 

- The rematch between Julian Williams and Jarrett Hurd for the unified WBA and IBF junior middleweight titles, which was planned for December but never officially announced, is off according to a report by Boxing Scene.

- Errol Spence Jr. and Shawn Porter go face-to-face before their welterweight title unification on September 28. Fightful will have live coverage of their title match.

- According to a report from World Boxing News, Nigel Benn, a former world champion who last fought in 1996, will come out of retirement for one fight. 

- Nicola Adams will defend her WBO Female flyweight title against Maria Salinas on the undercard of Daniel Dubois vs. Ebenezer Tetteh taking place September 27 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
