Fight-Size Boxing Update: Jose Ramirez Ordered To Fight Mandatory, Sunny Edwards, Jarrell Miller

- The WBO has ordered unified junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez to defend his title against mandatory challenger Jack Catterall. Both sides have 30 days from August 6, which is September 5, to reach a deal or else a purse bid will be issued with the minimum bid being $150,000.

- Queensberry Promotions is having a boxing card at York Hall on September 14 that will be televised in the United Kingdom on BT Sport. The following fights were announced:

  • Sunny Edwards vs. Hugo Rosendo Guarneros: IBF International flyweight title
  • Brad Foster vs. Lucien Reid: Unified British and Commonwealth super bantamweight titles
  • Dec Spelman vs. Shakan Pitters: English light heavyweight title
  • Zak Chelli vs. Kody Davies: Final eliminator for the British light heavyweight title

- Former middleweight champions Daniel Jacobs and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. have had discussions in the past over a potential fight down the road, per a report from ESPN. Those discussions were preliminary, however, and is far from being set in stone. Chavez Jr. is scheduled to face Evert Bravo in Mexico on August 10.

- In an interview with Ring TV, Jarrell Miller said he expects to come back to the ring in October after failing multiple drug tests in March. In that interview with Ring TV, Miller also expressed some dissatisfaction with his current promoter Dmitriy Salita.

- On August 8, Hiroaki Teshigawara will defend his OPBF super bantamweight title against Shohei Omori at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Also on the card is Kenichi Horikawa vs. Ryuto Oho for the Japanese light flyweight title.

- Irish amateur standout Joe Ward has signed a co-promotional deal with DiBella Entertainment and Murphys Boxing. Details of his professional debut will be announced at a later date.

- Teenage prospect Vito Mielnicki Jr. has signed with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and will next fight on September 28 on the undercard of the PBC pay-per-view event in Los Angeles headlined by Errol Sepnce Jr. vs. Shawn Porter. The 17-year-old made his pro debut on July 13, knocking out Tamarcus Smith in the first round.
