- Speaking of WBA issuing challengers, at junior middleweight, titlist Jack Culcay (22-1, 11 KOs), of Germany, was also ordered to face mandatory challenger Demetrius Andrade (23-0, 16 KOs), of Providence, Rhode Island, who previously held a 154-pound belt from another organization.

- The Undefeated has an article on Deontay Wilder defending his undefeated streak tonight and about his daughter, who was born with a birth defect.

- Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) won’t have the chance of fighting for unbeaten Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s (35-0, 32 KOs) WBA middleweight title because the World Boxing Association won’t be sanctioning the September 10th fight as a title match-up due to the 30-year-old Brook never having fought at middleweight during his career. Golovkin would have to request the WBA for permission to make it a title fight.
