Fight-size Boxing Update: Rio Ferdinand, Luis Nery, Cristian Mijares' Retirement Fight

Your fight-size boxing update:

- Former WBC bantamweight champion Luis Nery is scheduled to fight on June 9 in his first fight since knocking out Shinsuke Yamanaka earlier this year. Nery was stripped of the title before that fight for being massively overweight in the weigh-ins but has elected to remain at bantamweight for this upcoming fight. Nery was previously given a lifetime ban by the Japanese Boxing Commission and can never fight professionally in Japan.

- Rio Ferdinand, the former pro soccer player who announced he would embark on a pro boxing career, announced that his application for a boxing license has been rejected and will not be a boxer. 

- Cristian Mijares, a former world title challenger has hinted on social media that his next fight, scheduled to take place on June 16 in Mexico against an unnamed opponent, will be his last fight. Mijares currently sports a 59-8-2 pro boxing record.

- Luke Campbell, who was ordered to fight Yvan Mendy in a WBC lightweight title eliminator, will fight on the undercard of the Tony Bellew vs. David Haye rematch scheduled to take place on May 5. Campbell, who has not fought since unsuccessfully challenging Jorge Linares for his WBA lightweight title last year, will be fighting Troy James.
