Firas Zahabi Tells Conor McGregor Its "Nothing Personal”

MMA

Tristar Gym coach Firas Zahabi recently predicted that UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway would defeat former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor in a rematch.

That prediction drew the ire of McGregor, but Zahabi says the comments were nothing personal against the Irishman.

“There was nothing personal,” Zahabi said during an AMA session (via Bloody Elbow). “The reason why I didn’t respond to McGregor (on twitter) is he got personal, and I don’t do that.”

McGregor hurled some insults towards Zahabi on Twitter, saying the longtime coach was afraid to fight and that he hits a clock for a living.

Zahabi would take things a step further by giving McGregor a shout out during the AMA session.

“But then I realized, ‘hey, he talked about the dorms. That article doesn’t talk about the dorms!’” he said. “If he knows about the dorms, he’s listened to this podcast. So I want to give a shoutout to Conor. Thank you for supporting this channel. I really appreciate you listening to this, and I want to let you know it was nothing personal.”

There has been no response from McGregor at this time to what Zahabi just said and it is unknown if one will come from the former two division UFC champion.
