Floyd Mayweather Jr. could compete in Rizin after all.
TMZ caught up with Mayweather and asked him about the planned fight with kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Rizin on New Year's Eve. Mayweather stated that talks are still ongoing and sounded confident that the two sides will eventually work something out.
"It's going to be a little boxing exhibition. No kicking at all," said Mayweather. "I'm moving around with the guy for nine minutes and of course it's gonna be the highest paid exhibition ever. Mayweather Promotions/Rizin. We're gonna make it happen. It's a no brainer."
Mayweather appeared at a Rizin press conference on Nov. 4, where it was announced that he would face Nasukawa on New Year's Eve. No rule set was given for the bout. However, three days later, Mayweather announced that he never agreed to an official bout. He initially believed that he would be competing in an exhibition bout "purely for entertainment purposes with no intentions of being represented as an official fight card nor televised worldwide."
In the TMZ video, Mayweather claims he's already been paid seven-figures for promoting the exhibition fight that may or may not happen. You can view Mayweather's comments in their entirety in the video above.
