Valerie Letourneau has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, losing a decision to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 193 in November 2015.
Letourneau made the announcement herself via Instagram:
Well! Thank you UFC it's been an awesome experience and many dreams come true. Time for me to look at what's next inside and outside the cage. New chapter starting right now !! #UFC #determination #dedication #passion #love #sport #mma #thankyou #ByeByeBoss •••• And don't feel sorry for me! For those who know me for years, you all know and I know that every time I thought the worse was happening, it was to take me to something 10 times better and I feel that this is what's happening. This is best for my health and future. I am good, I am happy, I still love my sport and I still gonna fight if my fans, sponsors and promotion have my back. And if not! I'm still gonna be fine !
The #15 ranked strawweight earned a 3-3-0 record in the UFC (8-6-0 overall), defeating Elizabeth Phillips, Jessica Rakoczy and Maryna Moroz, while suffering defeats to Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Joanne Calderwood and Viviane Pereira.
Letourneau also competed in the first women’s flyweight division fight in UFC history, losing to Joanne Calderwood at UFC Fight Night 89. Her last fight in the promotion was a controversial decision loss to Viviane Pereira at UFC 206 this past December.
