Court McGee is preparing to fight Ben Saunders this Sunday Night at UFC Fight Night 103, the bout will be a part of the main card. Even though these two will be battling each other this weekend, there was a point in time in which they were both training together.
“We trained almost every day that we were there,” McGee told MMA Junkie. “We grappled. We did wrestling. We did all the things were doing (at the gym) – sparring, drilling and bag work, grappling at night, conditioning. We went on some runs. We just had mutual respect. We’re both just martial artists. We were both in about the same time of our career at that time, as we are now.”
It's been around six years since they last trained together, but McGee has kept an eye on Saunders throughout his career.
“Ever since (we trained together in 2010), I’ve followed his career,” he said. ” … We’ve just followed each other’s career. I think we both have respect. I mean, I have tremendous respect for anybody I compete against.”
UFC Fight Night 103 takes place on Sunday, January 15 from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona with Yair Rodriguez and BJ Penn headlining.
