A light heavyweight division attraction is the latest addition to the upcoming UFC Fight Night 107 card as #7 Mauricio Rua battles #13 Gian Villante.
Rua (24-10-0) will be entering the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with those victories coming over the duo of Corey Anderson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Rua is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, as he defeated Lyoto Machida by first round knockout at UFC 113 in 2010 to win the gold. Rua will be having his fifth straight UFC fight in Brazil, holding a record of 2-2-0 in those last four.
Villante (15-7-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC bouts, defeating Corey Anderson, Anthony Perosh and Saparbek Safarov, while suffering defeats to Tom Lawlor and Ilir Latifi. Villante has only fought in three promotions in his seven year professional MMA career, those promotions are the UFC, Strikeforce and Ring Of Combat. Villante hasn’t put a winning streak together in nearly two years.
UFC Fight Night 107 takes place on Saturday, March 11 from the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Forteleza, Brazil with Vitor Belfort ad Kelvin Gastelum headlining.
