Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Added To UFC Fight Night 114

A middleweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night 114 as #14 Sam Alvey is in action against former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans.

Alvey (30-9-0-1NC) has won four of his last five heading into this fight, with those wins coming over Nate Marquardt, Alex Nicholson, Kevin Casey and Eric Spicely. Alvey is going to be facing a former UFC champion for the first time in his professional MMA career, which has lasted almost nine years. Alvey also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 22, losing to Joey Rivera in the opening round of the reality show competition.

Evans (19-6-1) is currently winless at middleweight, having dropped his divisional debut to Daniel Kelly at UFC 209. Evans hasn’t earned a victory inside the UFC in just about four years, with his last win coming over Chael Sonnen at UFC 167. Evans is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, as he defeated Forrest Griffin at UFC 92 to win the gold.

UFC Fight Night 114 takes place on Saturday, August 5 from the Mexico City Arena in Mexico City, Mexico with Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage on the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
