Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar was supposed to challenge UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway for the strap at UFC 222, but Holloway would pull out of the contest due to injury.
Despite losing his title shot, a focused Edgar would still like to compete on the UFC 222 card.
Edgar made his plans known through a post on Instagram:
Mark Henry is Edgar’s coach and he also took to Instagram to explain that the former lightweight champion is still training for a bout at UFC 222:
Wishing @blessedmma a healthy and speedy recovery. Max personifies the word Champion in a day and age where every fighter is afraid to fight or defend and picks fights Max has never backed down and has taken on all comers like ufc used to be. Heal up Champ ---- FE looking better than EVER March 3 LETS GOO!!!
The duo were supposed to meet the first time at UFC 218 this past December, but it was Edgar who pulled out of that bout due to injury.
