A bantamweight division clash has been added to next month’s UFC Fight Night 103 card as Frankie Saenz will be in action against Augusto Mendes.
Saenz (10-4-0) has won two of four fights under the UFC banner, defeating Iuri Alcantara and Sirwan Kakai, while suffering defeats to both Urijah Faber and Eddie Wineland. Saenz held a pair of belts before signing with the UFC a few years back, as he is a former King Of The Cage Bantamweight Champion and a former World Fighting Federation Bantamweight Champion. Saenz is on the second two fight losing streak of his career, the first one happened over the course of 2011/2012.
Mendes (5-1-0) is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Cody Garbrandt at UFC Fight Night 83. Mendes will be returning to action after being away for 11 months, which is the longest layoff he has had since turning pro in 2014. Mendes has held a single championship in his professional MMA career, as he is a former Duel For Domination Bantamweight Champion.
UFC Fight Night 103 takes place on Sunday, January 15 from the Talking Stick Resort Casino on Phoenix, Arizona with BJ Penn and Yair Rodriguez headlining.
