On December 8, 2017, Undefeated heavyweight Luis "King Kong" Ortiz made his return to the ring to face Daniel Martz in a scheduled 10-round heavyweight co-main attraction at The Hialeah Park Racing & Casino in Miami, Florida. The fight was broadcasted live on FS1 as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.
Ortiz took round one as his launching pad, applying power and ultimately bringing Martz to his knees after a quick, yet strong combination.
Although Martz did recover from his first flooring, it was no match to the returning power of Ortiz in the second round. Seconds into the second round, Ortiz delivers Martz a bout closing TKO, and shortly after calls out heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder, who had joined the FS1 broadcast ringside.
"I've wanted you and I'm going to bless you again with another opportunity," said Wilder. "I was ready the first time. This is a new day for you. I think you're one of the best heavyweights in the world and I want to prove that I am the best. We must fighter each other. You will have your fight."
Luis "King Kong" remains undefeated, improving his record to 28-0, 24 KO's.
