Gegard Mousasi is coming off what may be the biggest win of his UFC career when he defeated former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Befort by second round TKO at UFC 204. He didn't mince words after the fight.
Mousasi is now getting ready for another battle, not against those that he fights in the cage, his battle is against 'stupid people.' The reason behind this battles begins following UFC 204, when he was asked about how people perceive him, and how he feels about some of the bigger names in MMA.
“McGregor is good for the sport, but uhh. But what is it? You had Muhammad Ali, who was a hero, great boxer. He did a lot, did big things. But now you have (Floyd) Mayweather and Conor McGregor (saying) ‘I have money! I have money!’ and everybody loves it! I don’t know. That sells. People are stupid, what can I say?” said Mousasi.
Mousasi didn't mind singling out UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping, either. Mousasi was a little ticked off that Bisping didn't mention his name among the top contenders at middleweight.
“I think I’m underrated throughout my whole career,” Mousasi said. “I don’t know, maybe I’m from Holland and people don’t care. I don’t know, maybe I’ll throw bottles on someone’s head, and people are going to start noticing me. If I fight Michael Bisping with his performance tonight — I like Michael Bisping but you guys know I would beat him. I would beat him. I would jab his face the whole night. Easy!”
The next opponent for Mousasi has yet to be announced by the UFC.
