Gennady Golovkin: I Hope I Can Do Six Fights For DAZN, I Feel Great

Gennady Golovkin is ready to start competing on DAZN and get his feet wet as a promoter.

Golovkin spoke to the media in an introductory press conference to announce him signing with DAZN. The deal calls for six fights over the course of three years and with Golovkin turning 37 years old, it could be the final boxing deal of his career. As far as the rest of his career is concerned, Golovkin stated that he feels great right now and once his current deal expired, he may or may not retire, depending on what happens over the course of the deal.

“I hope I can do six fights. I feel great! After six fights I’ll see what I can do, but have to focus on these six fights,” Golovkin said.

But the deal isn't just for Golovkin to fight on DAZN as the streaming platform will also provide two fight cards for GGG Promotions per year starting in 2020. Golovkin hoped that he can sign young fighters to his promotional company and impart the wisdom that he's gained throughout his career to other fighters.

“I’ve gained a lot of experience in the last years of my career. I want to share that with fighters who will be working with me on GGG promotions and I think with DAZN we have the right partner to put on the best fights," Golovkin said.

Golovkin's first fight with the platform is expected to take place in June against an opponent to be announced at a later date. The full press conference can be seen in the video at the top of the page.
