Groves, the tournament's top seed, defended his WBA title for the first time in the quarterfinals when he beat fellow countryman Jamie Cox via fourth round KO back in October. Groves won the title earlier this year when he stopped Fedor Chudinov inside six rounds.

Eubank Jr., the son of potential Hall of Famer Chris Eubank Sr., fought his way into the tournament earlier in the summer when he beat Arthur Abraham in an IBO title defense. Eubank Jr. knocked out previously undefeated Avni Yildirim in Germany back on October 7 to advance to the WBSS semifinals.

The other semifinal fight in the 168-pound tournament pits former world champion Juergen Braehmer against WBC Diamond champion Callum Smith. A date and site for that bout has yet to be determined. Neither of the two semifnals fights in the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament have been announced. While the World Boxing Super Series announced the site of the cruiserweight finals, no site has been determined for the super middleweight tournament.
