Georges St-Pierre "Very Surprised" Conor McGregor Lost To Dustin Poirier At UFC 257

Georges St-Pierre has admitted that he "thought Conor was going to win" at UFC 257 vs. Dustin Poirier.

St-Pierre was speaking on the "Michael Bisping Podcast" and was discussing his reaction to UFC 257 and the shock TKO win for Poirier vs. Conor McGregor. "Rush" expressed his surprise that McGregor had lost the fight and he was fully expecting "The Notorious" to win the fight.

?I thought Conor was going to win, but I was wrong. I was very surprised. Will he keep his composure under the pressure? I think one of Conor?s biggest strengths is that he overwhelms his opponents with his pressure, with his presence," said St-Pierre (h/t MMAMania). "All the information he gives his opponent?s brain and the talking and all that, a lot of his opponents fold under pressure, but Poirier stayed sharp, and it was a real testament of how good he is. It was amazing.?

St-Pierre gave McGregor some advice on how to rebound from such a devastating loss. He believes that the Irishman needs to be "reborn" and to mix up how he trains and maybe things in his life to be able to compete at the level he used to.

?Now it will be really interesting to see how Conor comes back from it. I believe he can come back from that loss. He?s the kind of fighter who fuels himself on confidence," St-Pierre claimed. "That is how he performs at his best. I think he needs to be reborn. He needs to change things in his training and in his life that he believes were the causes for his failure. It doesn?t matter if it?s true or not as long as he believes.?
