Georgi Karakhanyan Signs With ACB, Debuts On May 5

Former WSOF Featherweight Champion and Bellator MMA veteran Georgi Karakhanyan has signed a multi-fight deal with the Absolute Championships Berkut promotion according to Denis Geyko of RT Sport.

The fighter already has his first bout with the promotion announced because Karakhanyan faces Alexey Polpudnikov at ACB 86 on May 5.

Karakhanyan (27-8-1) won four of eight during his most recent run with Bellator MMA, with those wins coming over Bubba Jenkins (twice), Kirill Medvedovsky and Daniel Pineda. Karakhanyan is also a former World Series Of Fighting Featherweight Champion, defeating Lance Palmer to win the gold at the WSOF 7 in December of 2013. Karakhanyan is also a former Tachi Palace Fights Featherweight Champion, defeating Micah Miller to win the championship at TPF 14 in September of 2012.

Polpudnikov (25-4-1) enters the contest riding a thirteen fight winning streak and the fighter hasn?t suffered a defeat in almost four years. Polpudnikov has also won two bouts under the ACB banner, defeating the duo of Donald Sanchez and Arman Ospanov. Polpudnikov also holds a victory over UFC veteran Yadong Song and that win took place at Kunlun Fight 44 in 2016.

Absolute Championships Berkut takes place on Saturday, May 5 from the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia with Marat Balaev and Yusup Raisov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on Fite TV.
