Gervonta Davis is an undefeated professional boxer and he has been under the learning tree provided by Floyd Mayweather for quite some time now.
When it comes to the super fight between Conor McGregor and Mayweather, the undefeated prospect says the Irishman has a chance.
“The most (important) thing that fighters need is confidence in themselves,” Davis said during the Mayweather open workout. “Conor has a lot of confidence in himself. He feels like he will win the fight – not only win it, but he will try to knock Floyd out. That’s what he says. He’s confident. How can you beat somebody that is so confident? We’re going to have to wait and see.”
Davis is also competing in the co-main event of the super fight card and he is going to be taking on Francisco Fonseca in a IBF Junior Lightweight Title bout.
The undefeated boxer also believes it is great that the best of boxing and the best of MMA are coming together for such a big fight.
“I’m honestly happy that it happened, because it’s two combat sports coming together making a big event,” Davis said. “Even the press conference was fun, so just imagine the fight. I feel it’s going to be a great event. The fans will be happy. Floyd will retire after this. So I think it will be great.”
Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
