GSP Compares The UFC To The WWE

Georges St. Pierre returned after a four-plus year absence to defeat Michael Bisping and become the UFC Middleweight Champion at UFC 217.

One thing that GSP noticed in his return to action is that the UFC is becoming more like the WWE.

“The sport has changed. Now it’s more WWF(E),” GSP said when appearing at the New York Stock Exchange. “It’s crazy. It wasn’t like that when I left off four years ago. Now it’s crazy — also, I was fighting a guy who likes to trash talk, which is different. It was just a different environment.”

Prior to returning at UFC 217, the former UFC Welterweight Champion last competed at UFC 167.

GSP admits that the fans have become more crazy over time, but he enjoyed the whole process leading up to the fight.

“The fans are crazy. Everybody is more into it. It was fun though, I was enjoying the process,” says GSP.

The new UFC Middleweight Champion has yet to announce what his next move is going to be, but UFC President Dana White did say he would fight UFC Interim Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker in his next bout.

However, the new middleweight champion did say in a recent conference call that he would announce his next move after taking a vacation.
