GSP Willing To Fight Winner Of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor Main Event

MMA

Former two division UFC champion Georges St. Pierre hasn?t been seen in action since defeating Michael Bisping to win the UFC Middleweight Title at UFC 217.

If there was a potential opponent that could lure GSP back into the Octagon, it would be the winner of the UFC 229 main event between UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.

?I would be interested in that fight,? St. Pierre said on Submission Radio. ?That?s a win-win situation. It?s a legacy upgrade and it?s good money. It?s going to be a big fight. However, I fought at 170. I relinquished the title (in 2013). Then I fought at 185. I relinquished the title (in 2017). I don?t think the UFC will let me fight for the title at 155. They will be afraid that I?ll relinquish and leave the division in ruins again.?

GSP has been approached in the past about fighting McGregor, which is something that has interested him

The former two division champion says fights that build on his legacy are what prompt a return to the Octagon.

?The last time they asked me, they asked me to fight Nate Diaz in September, but I?m not ready in September,? St. Pierre said. ?Not only that I?m not ready, I?m not very excited to fight Nate Diaz. I need something that excites me. What excites me is, what can I do to improve my legacy? That?s the No. 1. And also, the money. But legacy, No. 1. Money is there. In terms of Nate Diaz, Nate Diaz is not really an improvement for (my legacy) because people see me as a winner already. And if I win, they will say I look like a bully a little bit, because I beat his older brother (Nick). In terms of money, yes, it?s going to be big money because Nate Diaz is a big name. So I need to find guys that can help me improve my legacy, and money, as well. I?m at a point in my career now that I only have a few fights left if I decide to come back.?

If GSP were to fight the UFC 229 winner for the lightweight strap, it would give him a chance to be the first fighter in UFC history to hold three belts in three different weight classes.
