Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury Tests Positive for Cocaine

Breaking news just hit that lineal Heavyweight champion of the world, Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KO), who recently pulled out of his scheduled October 29th rematch with longtime titleholder Wladimir Klitschko for being "medically unfit", tested positive on September 22nd for cocaine during a urine sample test by the VADA.

Fury has been in the news for all the wrong reasons ever since he snatched the title from Klitschko (64-4, 53 KO) via unanimous decision last November. The former champion had an immediate rematch clause built into the contract, allotting the Ukranian juggernaut a chance to reclaim his title on July 9th, however Fury pulled out of the bout citing an ankle injury. After a long and drawn out process, the two finally agreed to reschedule the fight to October 29th, however just last week on the 23rd, Fury pulled out yet again, with his promoter claiming his fighter was medically unfit to participate in the sport.

Rumors have swirled that mental issues are the cause for the latest postponement, however Fury's team has been unable to provide the proper documentation to the sanctioning bodies who have requested it multiple times. Just months ago, the new champion from England had a probe opened on him when doping allegations began to run rampant. News outlet Sunday Mirror recently reported that Fury had refused to take drug tests proposed by the UK Anti-Doping Agency, which certainly does not look good considering the results of his most recent sample.

While no official word has come regarding Fury's status, it is all but a guarantee that he will be stripped of his titles if the reports hold up. It appears as if Fury has many personal issues to deal with, as his trainer has already stated he would most likely not return to the ring until at least early 2017. The status of Fury's belts may be in limbo for the near future, however the state of the heavyweight division will thrive in his absence. There have already been talks about Klitschko taking on rising star Anthony Joshua (17-0, 7 KO), which would be an insanely massive fight, with other big names such as Deontay Wilder (37-0, 36 KO), Luis Ortiz (25-0, 22 KO), and rising stud Joseph Parker (20-0, 17 KO) anxiously awaiting their chance at a big fight and to make a name for themselves in the division,
