Hector Sandoval Injured At UFC On Fox 22

Hector Sandoval scored his first UFC victory this past Saturday NIght when he defeated Fredy Serrano by unanimous decision on the UFC Fight Pass portion of the preliminary card of UFC On Fox 22. While Sandoval did accomplish a career milestone with that first UFC win, he did not exit the octagon unscathed, as he suffered a hip injury during the bout.

“I hurt my hip in the first round, and I was just trying to cruise through the rest of the rounds,” he told MMA Junkie. “I was feeling pain when we started grabbing each other and I would move, and I would feel my hip hurting, but I’m fine.”

Unlike Sandoval’s UFC debut, which came in Atlanta, Georgia at UFC 201, Sandoval got to fight close to home this time in Sacramento, California.

“It was nice to go to sleep in your own bed, and having my first win in Sacramento was a blessing,” Sandoval said. “But it was nice having Cody cornering me, basically. I was listening.”

Sandoval is also a former West Coast Fighting Championships Flyweight Champion and he is also a Tachi Palace Fights veteran, he currently holds a 1-1-0 record in the UFC, his overall MMA record is 9-3-0.
