Ian Heinisch Says Nate Marquardt Could Be Coming Out Of Retirement

Former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Nate Marquardt retired after a split decision loss to Cezar Ferreira at UFC Fight Night Norfolk.

However, according to training partner Ian Heinisch, a comeback could be in the future plans for Marquardt.

?Heinisch revealed in the interview that Nate Marquardt has been training with him extensively and is planning a potential comeback,? Heinisch told James Lynch of The Score. ?Mentioned Bellator as a possible destination. We?ll see if that ends up happening.?

Marquardt ended his professional MMA career on a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Sam Alvey, Vitor Belfort and the aforementioned Ferreira. Marquardt hasn?t picked up a victory in over three years, with that last win coming over Tamdan McCrory at UFC Fight Night 96. It has also been over two years since Marquardt last fought, as UFC Fight Night Norfolk took place in November of 2017.

There has been no comment yet from Marquardt when it comes to returning to professional MMA competition, but Heinisch did say that Marquardt could potentially be competing in Bellator MMA if the comeback does come to fruition.
