Invicta FC Released Sarah Kaufman So She Can Fight For $1 Million

Former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion and UFC veteran Sarah Kaufman will compete for a million dollars in the PFL Women’s Lightweight Division.

Kaufman, before signing to compete for the PFL, had to get released by the Invicta Fighting Championships.

“She’s wishing me the best and I wish Invicta the best,” Kaufman said to MMA Fighting. “Unfortunately, there were just no contenders for me to be fighting. The easier route seemed to be not fight me and go to the UFC, which is great for them, but unfortunate for me, who is waiting. … Right now this is the door that has opened and I’m grateful that she was in agreement to release and let me pursue this opportunity.”

The potential future millionaire fought twice in Invicta FC, defeating the duo of Pannie Kianzad and Katharina Lehner.

Kayla Harrison is the favorite to win the million bucks, but Kaufman wants to play the role of the party pooper.

“This is tailor made for Kayla Harrison, for sure,” Kaufman said. “But they also wanted to have legit talents in there, which is why I’m in there. So while I think that they are hoping that Kayla wins, I’m looking to upset their party. I’m a pretty good party upsetter, really. I am a party pooper.”

PFL season two begins this May and the million dollar finals is taking place on New Years Eve.
