Irene Aldana and former UFC Women?s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm were set to meet next weekend in the main event of the August 1 Fight Night card. However, a middleweight division attraction between Derek Brunson and Edmen Shahbazyan was promoted to the main event after Aldana was forced to withdrawal from the bout.
Aldana has now taken to Instagram to reveal that she tested positive for the coronavirus and that?s why the main event fight was postponed:
However, all may not be lost for Aldana and Holm, as Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports that their bout will now headline the UFC Fight Night card on October 3.
There has been no comment from Holm or the UFC on the canceled bout or about the fight being rescheduled for October 3.
