Isaac Dogboe?s first world title defense will have fight stateside for the second consecutive time on ESPN.
Dogboe will defend his WBO super bantamweight title against Japanese contender Hidenori Otake on August 25. That fight is expected to be the co-main event bout for the Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card in Arizona that will be headlined by Raymundo Beltran?s first WBO lightweight title defense against Roman Andreev.
The past six months has been extremely successful for Dogboe, who started the year by scoring a minor upset over Cesar Juarez to win the interim WBO title in Ghana. Dogboe then followed it up with a late TKO win over now-former champion Jessie Magdaleno on ESPN this past April. Dogboe, who made his pro debut in 2013, sports a 19-0 record in the paid ranks.
The 36-year-old Otake, who turns 37 on July 6, has gone on a three-year, nine-fight win streak since losing his only world title shot against Scott Quigg in 2014. Otake has been one of Japan?s top boxers at 122 lbs. for years, holding the Japanese super bantamweight title from 2012-2014. Otake has held the OPBF super bantamweight title since 2017, defending it three times with his most recent victory coming in March with a 10th round TKO win over Brian Lobetania.
So far, the two world title fights are the only fights set for the August 25 card, but the card will likely include at least a third fight on the television card, as has been the case for most Top Rank cards on the network.
